  • Begin by greatly increasing the amount of fiber you are eating. An average American eats 8 - 12 grams of the 35 - 40 grams of fiber one should be consuming on a daily basis.

    Fiber will help reduce cholesterol levels, will aid in the body better digesting food which increases nutrient absorption, and will remove toxins from the body which come from the heavily processed foods we eat as well as the build up of chemical toxins from medicine and environmental toxins. To help get your daily needs for fiber it is ok to take psyllium or Metamucil or something like that for part of it.

    But try to get as much of it as possible from increasing foods that are high in both soluble fiber such as beans, oatmeal and barley and insoluble fiber such as fruits, vegetables and nuts.
  • One of the first natural high blood pressure cures that is most often recommended is the reduction of salt. While I agree with this recommendation, I have a few thoughts you may want to consider. The body is a balanced state of alkaline and acidic.

    A healthy body is slightly more alkaline than acidic. Our stomach acids and our skin are acidic and blood, saliva and urine are alkaline. Most in North America and parts of Europe eat a highly acidic diet. Things like red meat, dairy and processed flower are all acidic.

    Salt is alkaline. But only natural sea salt or mineral salt. Ordinary table salt has been stripped of it`s minerals which make salt alkaline. If you reduce or eliminate processed foods you will eliminate the highest percentage of your intake of salt. Replace your table salt with natural sea or mineral salt and don`t cook with it. Only add salt at the table.

    It is my opinion that if you use sea salt or mineral salt on your food at the table and don`t use it to cook with and reduce or eliminate your consumption of processed foods, that will be sufficient for many of you. There is also evidence that salt is not the problem, but an imbalance of potassium and magnesium to salt ratio. Increase foods high in potassium,(baked potatoes, avocados, cantaloupe, tomatoes, mushrooms), and magnesium,(nuts, pumpkin seeds, broccoli, seafood, bananas), to get this balance.

    Magnesium has also been shown to smooth muscle tissue that lines blood vessels further reducing blood pressure. Japanese eat a lot of miso soup which has a lot of sea salt, but we also eat much more fruit and vegetables then many other countries and therefore have far fewer incidents of high blood pressure, heart disease and cancer.

  • Studies show that those that have and practice spiritual beliefs have less stress and suffer from fewer stress related illnesses.
